December Wrap Up and January TBR

December was the month of me frantically reading as much as possible to reach my reading goal for 2015. I read a good number of books but a lot of them were shorter but still really good reads.
Starting with the books I read during December.
First book I finished was

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
I really liked this book, it wasn't at all what I expected it to be but I still really enjoyed it. I look forward to the rest of the series. One of the things I liked about this book was all the vintage pictures and how Riggs used all the pictures he found and used them to help tell the story. I think it is better to go into this book knowing as little as possible so I will just leave it at that I liked the book but it wasn’t one of my all time favorites.

Animal Farm by George Orwell

I have made it a goal of mine to start reading more classics and just more books that I wouldn’t normally reach for. I was really surprised by how much I liked this novel. If you don’t know the premise of the book is a group of animals on a farm are unhappy with how they are treated by their own and over throw the humans and take over the farm, setting up their own society. As the book progresses the pigs, who are self-appointed leaders benign to manipulate the animals into worse conditions then when they were under the charge of the humans. This book is a political satire on the events of the Stalinist Era and the socialist/communist philosophy of Stalin in the Soviet Union.

Life and Death: Twilight Re-Imagined by Stephanie Meyer
This book was… interesting. It’s basically just the story of Twilight but the genders are swapped. The vampire is now a girl and the human that falls for the vampire is the human. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate twilight for what it is and I enjoy the story but I didn’t really like this book. I took notes while reading and I plan on doing a full length review on this blog or on goodreads.

Sherlock Holmes A Study in Scarlet and The Sign of Four by Arthur Conan Doyle
I think that these are technically short stories and not full length books but I have been reading them out of the first set of the complete series collection and I am half way trough the first of the set. I had never read these before and my dad and brother both love them and I had been wanting to read them for such a long time. This is another step in my goal of reading more classic ligature and I have been really loving these.

I have finals coming up so I will be lucky to get a ton of reading done in January but I will still try to do my fair share. The books I am hoping to read are.

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancy. I read this last year but I am re-reading it this month because the movie is coming out later this month and I want to have the book fresh in my mind before I see the movie.

The Lost Hero- Book 1 in the Hero's of Olympus series by Rick Riordan
I loved the first Percy Jackson series and I CAN NOT wait to dig into this series.

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
I pre-ordered this book and should be receiving it in the next couple weeks and I am so crazy excited to read this. I have heard only great things about this novel and I already love Alexandra's writing and her previous series The Darkest Minds.

Even though it's only three books I would be happy to finish them this month.
